A whole house in north Goa, rather than a resort room
Goa rewards people who stay somewhere with a kitchen. The market is the good part of the day, the fish is better than any buffet, and a house with a table on a terrace beats a restaurant table on most evenings.
Crestwood Villa is at Nerul, in the north — three storeys, a private pool in the garden, and a roof terrace looking out to the Arabian Sea. It is let whole, to one group at a time.
Why a villa here rather than a hotel
North Goa's hotels are busy by design. A villa inverts it: you are on a residential lane rather than a strip, you come back to a garden rather than a lobby, and the pool is not shared with anyone.
It also changes how a group travels. Everyone is under one roof, so the day does not have to be co-ordinated by phone across three rooms. People drift back at different hours and the house absorbs it.
The rhythm of a stay
Mornings are for the beach or the market. Afternoons are hot and the pool is the answer. The roof terrace is the evening room — it looks west, and the sea takes the light for a long time. Most groups eat in more often than they planned to.
Who it suits
Families, and groups of couples or friends travelling together. Anyone who wants their own kitchen. Anyone who has stayed in north Goa in season, been woken by a shared corridor, and decided not to do that again.
When to come
The dry months are the classic season and the crowded one. The shoulder weeks either side are quieter and the light is at its best. The monsoon is green, wet and very cheap to be in, and a covered terrace is a fine place to sit through it — though the sea is not for swimming then.
Booking
