Amberi Vista is the roomiest of our Udaipur houses, and the one to look at first if you are a large family travelling together. It sits in the countryside at Amberi, surrounded by greenery and hills, away from the noise of the city while still being a practical base for seeing it.
The house
Well-appointed rooms, each with an attached private bathroom, around a spacious common hall. There is a fully equipped kitchen, and a rooftop where most people end up in the late afternoon to look at the landscape.
One room is different: the Maharaja Room has a private jacuzzi, and it is usually given to whichever couple in the party is celebrating something.
What the setting is actually like
Green, hilly, quiet countryside. This is not a house on a street. The nearby places worth an outing are Purohito Ka Talab, Phoolon Ki Ghati, Eklingji Temple and Amrakh Ji Mahadev Temple — a good spread of temple, water and walking, and enough to fill several mornings without going into the city at all.
Who it suits
Families, groups and anyone travelling with enough people that a hotel would mean four separate rooms and a co-ordination problem. The common hall is the point: it gives a big group somewhere to be together that is not a bedroom, which is exactly what a hotel cannot provide.
